Transiting Towards Your Goal, Where Pain and Joy Fit In

The Street Intelligence

There is an intelligence that the street teaches that cannot be obtained at school, at home, or even in the church. It comes with trials that may appear to be defeats, and as the saying goes, do not prepare the way for a child. Prepare the kids for the journey ahead.

For centuries, IQ tests were used to assess a person's intelligence or academic aptitude. The higher a person's test result, the more intellectually proficient they were thought to be.

I am sure, you are now more familiar with the left or right or left and right brain theory, we will probably explore that at some point, if allowed by the perception of inspiration. Or you could just google it right now.

Howard Garner in his book, Frames of Thought, questions the concept that intelligence is a single yardstick for measuring a person's talents and possibilities of future success. Several academics and psychologists have followed suit in recent decades, identifying other techniques to assess intelligence that do not just depend on academic ability.

There are four types of intelligence that are commonly used today;

  • The first is the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) itself
  • The next is Emotional Quotient, known as (EQ)
  • And followed by Social Quotient (SQ)
  • Then the Adversity Quotient (AQ)

While the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) gauges a person's degree of understanding. This is often tested using an IQ test, which measures a person's ability to solve mathematical problems, memories information, spot patterns, and recall lessons.

• The Emotional Quotient (EQ) or Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to control one's emotions. This involves the capacity to understand and regulate one's own emotions in a good way in order to communicate successfully, sympathize with others, overcome obstacles, handle conflict, and alleviate stress.

• Then, the capacity to engage and communicate with people with empathy and assertiveness is referred to as one's social quotient (SQ). This involves a person's capacity to form and maintain a network of friends throughout time.

Now, there is a fourth one on which I decided to focus my efforts:

 It is a new paradigm.

 4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ):

It is a measure of your capacity to get through a difficult period in your life without losing your mind.

The level of ones AQ decides who will give up in the face of difficulty and may forsake their family.

Many professionally successful individuals are experiencing periods of depression in the present setting of Society. Because they haven't seen Adversity, they are unprepared for it. In actual sense, no one prepares you for it in practical terms.

It is a measure of a person's capacity to deal with challenges and turn them into opportunities. This is what distinguishes some people we never viewed as clever in school from becoming industry leaders and people we believed were incredibly intelligent now working for them.

The adversity quotient is one characteristic that influences a person's success since it corresponds favorably with tenacity and endurance. It's amusing how much emphasis has been placed on other types of intelligence quotients, particularly IQ and EQ.

A person with a high adversity quotient will also do well. Individuals who lack adversity quotients would always rely on others, particularly their parents, friends, and others (Hurlock, 2000).

People whose AQ is low tends to lack initiative and as a result, suffer considerably when faced with problems. Finally, adversity quotients influence the possessor's performance, autonomy, and achievements.

Success may be judged by a person's capacity to deal with obstacles in life (Stoltz, 2005), which includes adaptability, perseverance, and the ability to deal with problems in their obligations and job. Individuals who can solve difficulties more effectively have greater control over the situation and a better likelihood of success (Phoolka and Kaur, 2012). The adversity quotient has four dimensions: control, ownership, reach, and endurance (Stoltz, 1997); it may be seen in a person's capacity to keep calm in the face of adversity.

People require the adversity quotient in order to effectively face their issues and accept responsibility for their success in life, rather than blaming it on the environment or the government.

They can manage the situation, take advantage of chances, and have a better likelihood of success if they have the adversity quotient.

Numerous researchers have found that adversity quotient has an impact on workplace elements. Sukardewi, for example, discovered a strong influence of adversity quotient on work ethics, school organization culture, and teacher performance (Sukardewi et al., 2013).

In 2019, a new virus called coronavirus or COVID-19, was discovered in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019 and early in 2020. This virus spread fast over the world, resulting in a global pandemic. During the COVID-19, practically every aspect of global life was touched. This illness has an influence on many aspects of everyday living, nobody can deny how confusing the period was.

The COVID-19 pandemic had enormous impact on the economic, education, personal and social lives of the typical person all around the world. While some businesses closed owing to a lack of purchasers and the necessity to get go of too many staff. The terms of education? There was a shift in learning patterns and face-to-face meetings at schools and colleges, which were replaced by online and now hybrid meetings as a result of the change's innovation or opportunity. During this time, all that was necessary was adaptation, preparedness, and infrastructural support. Some people or industry leaders who were unable to see through gave up on life.

This is why most individuals give up on every hurdle they face in life. We don't have solutions to the questions that a condition raises, but it doesn't imply there isn't a response or solution to scenarios or your own situation.

As Psalm 121:1-2 suggests, if I am in a predicament, I will always go up to the hill for aid, but knowing that my help comes from the LORD is typically a comfort that a change is possible, looking up to God for a miracle or insight that will generate answers.

For, parents, exposing your children to activities other than academics can never be overemphasized. Let your children embrace life, work, sports, and art, and quit worrying about them all the time. Allow boredom to aid in the development of critical thinking skills of your children.

You should sometimes cancel some levels of subscription for views of some sort that the children cannot do without.

I have never read where an individual thrived in comfort. Champions are not known in low moment but are made there.

Cease preventing your children from mixing in the guise of protection; eagles educate their eaglets to fly by withholding food as the eaglet approaches the fledging and encouraging them to fly to a neighboring perch to collect their meal.

So, work on your child's EQ, SQ, and AQ. Let them develop into multifaceted individuals capable of acting independently of their parents.

Yes, there is an intelligence that the street teaches that cannot be obtained at school, at home, or even in church the surface level. It comes with trials that may appear to be defeat, and as the saying goes, do not prepare the way for the children. Prepare the kids for the journey ahead.

When you come in contact with bullies which you will at every stage of life turning point, this is what will make you open your mind to the path of intelligence hidden from the surface.
